Benjamin Williams Learder is an English painter born in 1831 in Reading and died in 1923 in Shere.
He begins to paint countryside landscapes in his village and sketches alongside the painter “John Constable” friend of the family of drawings near rivers.
He left for London and entered the Royal Academy where his talent was quickly noticed, he exhibited his first paintings there before leaving to participate in numerous exhibitions including that of Paris in 1889 which earned him a gold medal and the cross. of the Legion of Honor.
He was elected associate of the Royal Academy and academician in 1898.
Its commercial success is international with wealthy buyers. Frequent traveler he likes to paint the English countryside but also the mountains in Switzerland and Germany.
