Frédéric Bourgeois Mercey was born in 1805 in Paris and died on September 5, 1860 in Falaise.
Painter of landscapes, interiors of churches and great designer, he participated in many salons from 1831 to 1857, his views of Scotland from Tyrol and Italy are much appreciated.
In 1840 he entered the Ministry of the Interior as chief of fine arts and a few years later director of fine arts.
