Bouquets of irises by Jacques Martin painter Lyonnais born in 1844 in Villeurbanne, died in 1919 in Lyon.
Signed above right.
Scientific training, chemical engineer at the École Centrale de Lyon, he set up his painting workshop in his factory.
Self-taught, he is encouraged by his friend François Vernay and Pierre Puvis de Chavannes.
He is also an excellent violinist.
1881: it is the beginning of numerous exhibitions 
1904: He founds the Lyon autumn salon.

Its bouquets of flowers are an enchantment, joyful of great freedom.
He also paints portraits and nudes.
